What if none of these fit my property?
A custom plan from an architect runs roughly $5K–$25K depending on size and complexity, and adds time for plan check (since the design isn't pre-vetted). It's worth it if your lot has unusual constraints (hillside, corner, irregular shape) or if you want a layout no standard plan covers — but for most typical LA lots, one of the approved plans above gets you faster and cheaper to a permit.
