Phase 01
Hire a licensed C-39 roofer
Residential re-roof + structural roof work

Phase 02
Pull the roofing permit
No plan check for standard residential re-roof
Standard residential re-roof permits same-day. Permit verifies the new system meets Cool Roof + fire-rating requirements. Structural roof changes (raising ridge, opening dormers) require plan check.
Phase 03
Tear-off + install + inspection
Typically 2–5 days of work
Roofer tears off the existing roof, inspects sheathing, replaces any damaged plywood, installs new underlayment + roofing material. LADBS does a final inspection after completion.
